homework is proud to present dreams without riders: an exploration of control, featuring zero control, a solo exhibition by Miami-based German-Nicaraguan artist Brigette Hoffman, opening September 6 at 5 PM.
This immersive installation of a symbolic world where control slips, systems self-perpetuate, and meaning shimmers just out of reach. Hoffman draws on riderless bicycles, circus motifs, and subconscious currents to examine the fragile boundary between steering and being steered. Machines spin, loops repeat, and the audience is pulled into a hypnotic dance between agency and surrender.
Philosophically grounded in Carl Jung, Dolores Cannon, and Guy Debord, Hoffman’s work confronts how spectacle and structure shape behavior—while leaving just enough room to ask: who’s really in charge? The show invites viewers to experience this uneasy tension firsthand. In a world where institutions drift and images replace reality, dreams without riders offers a raw, surreal counter-narrative that honors the divine spark of the Self behind the spectacle.
